Sir Hugh de Wittless is a hapless do-gooding knight who is spellbound to rescue people - whether or not they need rescuing.


Sir Hugh wore a red cloak and rode a real white horse called Neddy.

He was cursed by Hordriss the Confuser to rescue anyone he meets, whether or not they want or need to be rescued.

Sir Hugh is dim but well intended. Pickle describes him as 'the knight of the lost brain cell'. Treguard calls him a 'well-meaning hazard'.

What would mummy have done?

Though some dungeoneers didn't need rescuing, others certainly did.

Sir Hugh comes to the aid of dungeoneers who are in trouble from Skarkill and Sylvester Hands. He also walks off with Gwendoline the Greenwarden on one occasion.

When tested with conflicting stories, Sir Hugh's logic is what his mother would have done.

Eeny meeny, miny mo, if it smells good, let it go.

Sylvester Hands tries to trick him into taking away the dungeoneer. Sir Hugh decides to sniff them both to determine the truth.

He swiftly carries off the odious Sly Hands.

Lair of Kaa

One of the Lairs of Kaa (Level 3) found in Series 3 of Knightmare.

A giant snake emerged from a pit in Series 3, forcing teams to scurry to the nearest exit.

The Mine

Series 3, Quest 2. Cliff reaches the Mine Cart room.

An active mine was supervised by a dwarf mineworker in Series 2. In the following year, the remaining mine cart formed the route to Level 3.

Snake / Scorpion Room

The scorpion with its snapping tail and additional floor tiles removed from Series 3 of Knightmare.

Usually a Level 1 challenge, this room contained various hazardous creatures, including a snake and a scorpion.
